The Growth Company’s (GC) Education and Skills team has an exciting opportunity for a Training Centre Manager to lead the performance and success of a dynamic Training Centre and its dedicated team.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in post-16 education, including study programmes, traineeships, and employability pathways. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering vocational and employability training that meets the needs of learners aged 16+ and aligns with employer expectations, funding requirements, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic and operational management of a post-16 training centre, ensuring high-quality delivery and learner outcomes.
- Develop and implement service area plans, translating them into detailed delivery schedules and performance targets.
- Use management information (MI) to monitor progress and take corrective action to meet KPIs.
- Drive curriculum innovation that is financially sustainable, quality-assured, and responsive to the needs of 16–19 learners, adult learners, and employers.
- Build strong partnerships with employers and stakeholders to inform curriculum design and identify growth opportunities.
- Manage and support delivery teams, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and quality standards.
- Oversee learner case management, including attendance, behaviour, and progression planning.
- Ensure continuous quality improvement through walkthroughs, QIPs, and audit readiness.
- Manage financial performance, including achieving income targets (e.g., £600K), budget control, and contract compliance.
About You:
- A strategic and motivational leader with a proven track record in post-16 education management.
- Experienced in managing 16–19 study programmes, adult learning, and/or apprenticeships.
- Passionate about learner success, with a strong focus on inclusion, progression, and employability.
- Operationally hands-on, with the ability to lead by example and support day-to-day delivery.
- A confident communicator who builds trust with learners, staff, and external partners.
- Committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and high standards of delivery.
- Skilled in managing diverse teams and driving performance through coaching and accountability.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong planning, organisational, and project management skills.
- Proven ability to manage staff performance, development, and recruitment.
- Experience in designing and delivering funded and commercial education programmes.
- Skilled in curriculum development for post-16 learners, including bespoke employer-led models.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficient in using MI to inform strategic decisions and drive improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of funding rules, awarding body requirements, and audit processes.
- Qualified and experienced teacher with a strong track record in post-16 education leadership.
