Maths Tutor

The Growth Company’s (GC) Employment team has a fantastic new vacancy for a Maths Tutor who will develop and deliver continually improved training to multiple funding streams to achieve customer outcomes through the development of their knowledge, skills, behaviours & attitudes.

Our highly skilled advisers and keyworkers work with a range of individuals; from people who have found themselves recently out of work, to those with complex barriers such as physical disabilities, mental ill-health and debt.

This role is based at the GM SkillCentre, Unit 32, Ashburton Point, Wheelforge Way, Ashburton, Trafford Park, M17 1EH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design a face-to-face Maths curriculum to promote the attainment of retainable knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSB) making reasonable adjustments to meet the individual needs of learners across a wide variety of provisions (including but not restricted to: Apprenticeships, Adult learning, ESF and Study programme).
  • Manage own caseload to ensure progression and track attendance.
  • Mark/assess students’ work and provide structured feedback.
  • Review learner progress and achievements with Stakeholder engagement and meaningful targets, ensuring personal KPI’s are achieved.   
  • Accurately track KSB progress of all learners and effectively monitor their progress using learner funds and tools, to ensure learners are not disadvantaged.
  • Actively engage in improvement responsibilities, supporting the attainment of key performance indicators such as retention, attendance, achievement, stakeholder satisfaction and positive destination outcomes.
  • Ensure that learner's additional needs are reviewed, and safeguarding concerns are proactively managed in line with company policy.

About You:

  • Motivating and inspiring, supportive and has a flexible approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and effective coaching.
  • Ability to plan and organise workload effectively.

Skills Required:

  • At least 5 years of vocational industry experience, ideally in Maths.
  • Experience in teaching and learning quality standards especially OFSTED.
  • Have or are working towards a Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent qualification, e.g., PGCE, OR PTTLS, support in qualifications can be provided.
  • Able to create and conceptualise innovative and engaging learning materials.
  • Strong IT Skills with an ability to use Microsoft Office and a variety of eLearning platforms to direct and support learners.
