We're thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for two Collections Officers. In this role, you'll take charge of managing the portfolio of Start Up Loan clients who have defaulted on their repayments. The Growth Company (GC) is a not-for-profit lender that specialises in simple, hassle-free loans to help businesses start, grow and thrive, providing a fresh, ethical approach to supporting SMEs. Through its alternative finance products, GC Business Finance has supported over 30,000 growing businesses, unable to obtain funding through a mainstream lender such as a high street bank, to achieve their goals.   

This is a hybrid role working Monday to Friday with no weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities    

  • Negotiate repayment plans for customers facing genuine financial difficulties.
  • Achieve weekly targets for early arrears management to meet contractual obligations.
  • Maintain the loan management system to ensure client information is accurate and up to date, in accordance with data protection rules.
  • Record customer contacts and agreements factually at every stage of the collections process to support business reporting to contract providers.
  • Liaise with all third parties authorised to act on the customer's behalf.
  • Ensure all responsibilities under Consumer Duty are met.
  • Contact customers in arrears effectively for payment via telephone, email, and letter, always adhering to FCA requirements.

About you

  • Have an understanding and/ or experience of financial process.
  • Being able to show empathy on all calls.
  • Think logical in different scenarios.
  • Ability to understand, demonstrate and apply GC values: Make a positive difference, stronger together, empower people, do the right thing, build on success.

Skills Required

  • 1 year of debt management experience.
  • Proven expertise in telephone collections and arrears management.
  • Skilled in account and CRM database management.
  • Strong numerical and communication skills.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient IT skills, including a working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and computerized management systems.
  • Effective diary management.
